There are plenty of ways to try <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com"title="" >fun easy recipes for kids without their parents worrying about getting hurt in the kitchen. One recipe that I started using with my little sister was a simple tuna salad recipe. This idea requires no stove usage or <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/rachael-ray-young-cooks-starter-knife-set/"title="" >knives!

All you need is a can opener, a spoon, and a toaster (and even that’s optional). Start by opening a can of chunk light tuna, drained of all water, and place the tuna into a bowl. Break it up into smaller chunks with a fork. Next, add a tablespoon (or a little more, if you’re a fan) of mayonnaise or salad dressing and mix it in with the tuna.

For flavor, we like to add a dash of yellow mustard, a couple shakes of garlic salt, and a couple shakes of paprika. This is where your child can experiment with different flavors until they find their favorite. Try celery salt instead of garlic salt, parsley, black pepper, or whatever else is in your spice rack! Mix this all together evenly.

You can toast bread for the <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >sandwich afterward, and add your favorite kind of cheese – we prefer shredded mozzarella and cheddar. If your kid is adventurous, try some crumbled feta with just a little bit of lemon juice. Have them spread the tuna salad mixture onto the bread, add the cheese, and lunch is served!

This is a great way to introduce a child to cooking independently. If you trust them with the stove, you can always hard-boil an egg and add that to the tuna salad as well.

Step 1: Have kids read the recipe out loud to make sure they have all the ingredients and equipment, and enough time to prepare the recipe.

Step 2: Next, clear and clean a work area to prepare the recipe. You can sanitize counter tops by adding 1 teaspoon bleach to 1 quart water in a spray bottle. Let air dry or dry with a paper towel.

Step 3: Set out all ingredients, pans and baking tools listed in the recipe. This is also a good time to preheat the oven if you are baking. Teach kids to use dry hot pads when handling hot pans, pots and dishes; to handle <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/rachael-ray-young-cooks-starter-knife-set/"title="" >knives safely; to be careful with hot liquids; and to tie back hair and not wear baggy clothing when cooking.

Step 4: Measure accurately! Help kids choose the correct measurement tool for liquid and dry ingredients, and follow the steps in the recipe.

Step 5: Last but not least, have the kids help with clean up before sampling the final product!

It’s a proven fact; kids just want to spend time with their parents and copy whatever they’re doing. Cooking is a great example of something parents and kids can do together and it provides a great opportunity for direct communication and interaction with your children.

While having young children help with cooking can be an enjoyable experience for both of you, there are some dangers to be aware of. Stoves can burn and <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/rachael-ray-young-cooks-starter-knife-set/"title="" >knives can cut. Just as other areas of parenting, you need to take precautions.

The Rachael Ray Starter Knives Young Cook Cooking set is a great way to aid in accomplishing your cooking goals while playing it safe. This wonderful set comes with two specially designed serrated knives, a practically invulnerable (to cutting) glove and plastic covers to both knives. It is beautifully designed with young children specifically in mind, and more specifically the safety of your children. On top of this, it’s economical. For less than 30 dollars you can own and enjoy this kit. It’s long lasting and easy to use, making it easy for you to connect and grow with your children.

They are wonderfully resistant, pragmatic, effective and safe. Your children will love them and you will love the peace of mind and interaction. They are like a teaching tool, and allow you to explain how the knife is dangerous on top of providing protection from injury. You won’t regret the purchase and you’ll absolutely love the usability and peace of mind, all at a deal that cannot be beaten.

A portion of the proceeds from this item will be donated to Yum-o! to empower kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking. The Rachael Ray Young Cooks Cutting Set includes a 4-in. paring knife, 4-in. serrated knife and a reversible, cut-resistant glove. The cut-resistant glove is polyester, woven with stainless steel thread to reduce the risk of cutting injuries. In fewer than five years, Rachael Ray has radically changed the way America cooks dinner. Her perky-girl-next-door swagger, her catchphrases for techniques, and her dinner ideology of simpler, less expensive and just in time has placed her at the top of the talent heap of food television personalities. “A portion of the proceeds from your purchase of this item will support Rachael Ray’s Yum-o!® organization. About Yum-o!®… Launched in 2006 by Rachael Ray, Yum-o!® is a nonprofit organization that empowers kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking by teaching families to cook, feeding hungry kids and funding cooking education and scholarships.
Reviews:

“We love this knife set, however the glove is big on my 7 year old.”
- actual review from amazon.com

“The knife itself has worked well in terms of size and shape since I purchased it. A fellow chef thought this knife was quite a good quality for a children’s knife.”
- actual customer from amazon.com

“We are very happy with the starter knives and cut-resistant glove. ”
- actual customer from cooking.com

“I bought this set for myself. With my small hands,; I have a hard time with larger knives. ”
