Here’s a few Valentine recipes your whole family is sure to enjoy. Older kids who are more experienced in the kitchen can do most of this on their own, but these are also fun to do alongside your younger children. Maybe you can start a new Valentine tradition. This collection comes from various friends, online and off.

Scroll down to the end of the post to shop for Valentine recipe books and fun items for your Valentine baking.

Valentine recipes for kids:

TIP: The<a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/over-200-cookie-recipes/"title="" > cookie recipe makes good <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/valentine-recipes/"title="" >Valentines Day gifts

Heart Shaped Pink Pancakes
Add a little red food coloring to your regular pancake batter and pour mixture from a squeeze bottle to make a heart or pour into a metal heart shaped cooking cutter directly on to your griddle. You can also add white <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/600-delicious-chocolate-recipes/"title="" >chocolate chips, strawberries or both to the batter. Top with whip cream for a delicious breakfast surprise. Serve with fresh strawberries and strawberry flavored milk.

Valentine Roll-Ups
flour tortillas
strawberry cream cheese
thin sliced lunch meat
finely shredded cheese
lettuce

Spread strawberry cream cheese to tortilla, add other ingredients, roll, slice and enjoy!

Heart Shaped Homemade Pizza
pizza dough
pizza or pasta sauce
mozzarella cheese
your favorite toppings

Shape your dough into a heart shape, add sauce, cheese and toppings and bake.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
2 dozen large strawberries with stems
12-oz bag of white or milk chocolate chips

In a microwave on the defrost setting or ten percent power, melt one 12-oz. bag of chocolate chips. Stir well every minute or so until completely smooth. Dip strawberries into the chocolate by holding the stems. Cover about ¾ of each berry and let excess chocolate drip off. (If you want to add miniature chocolate chips or candies as decoration, add them immediately after dipping) Place the strawberries on waxed paper in the refrigerator to allow chocolate to set. Additionally you may want to melt a contrasting color chocolate chip and drizzle diagonally onto the already made and set chocolate covered strawberries for an added touch. Refrigerate and serve the same day they are made for best results.

Be Mine Valentine Pie
1 cup Water
1 – 3 oz cherry or strawberry-flavored gelatin
2 cups vanilla <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/131-ice-cream-frozen-yogurt-sorbet-recipes/"title="" >ice cream
1 – 9″ pie shell
chocolate kisses

In a 4-cup glass measuring cup stir together the water and gelatin. Microwave, uncovered, on 100% power for about 2 minutes. Add the ice cream to the gelatin and stir until the ice cream is totally melted. Chill the mixture for about 1/2 hour, stirring a few times. Pour the chilled mixture into your pie shell. Chill about 4 hours. Arrange kisses in a heart shape on the top of the pie

Sugar Free Valentine Cherry Pie
2 deep dish pie shells
2 - 16 oz. cans tart sour cherries with juice
3 T. cornstarch
¼ c. granulated sugar replacement
¼ t. almond extract
a dash of salt
red food coloring

Drain cherries but reserve ½ cup of cherry juice. Combine reserved cherry juice, cornstarch, sugar replacement, almond extract and salt in saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until slightly thickened, though the mixture will not be clear. Add a few drops of red food color, fold in cherries and allow filling to rest while preparing pie shells.

Place one shell in pie plate, securing dough to plate by pressing edge with tongs of a wet fork. Cut away excess. Cut second pie shell into 8 heart shaped designs with cookie cutter. Prick with fork. Pour cherry filling into pie shell. Arrange hearts evenly on top of cherry filling. Bake at 425 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or till crust is browned.

Big Valentine Cookie
1 package (18 ounces) refrigerated cookie dough (any flavor) - well chilled
decorative icing, Valentine’s candies, melted chocolate

Shape an entire package of cookie dough into heart shape on greased baking sheet. Bake according to package directions, adding 3 to 4 minutes to the baking time on the package. Cool on a baking sheet for 1 minute; carefully loosen cookie with spatula. Cool on baking sheet completely. Decorate with candies, icing and melted chocolate.

Valentine Rice Crispy Pops
1/2 cups butter
red food coloring
10 cups crispy rice cereal
9 cups miniature marshmallows
popsicle sticks
<a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/fun-easy-recipes-for-kids-candy/"title="" >candy hearts with messages
12 oz bag of miniature white chocolate chips

Melt butter and marshmallows and stir until smooth adding small amounts of red food coloring until the desired shade is apparent. In a large bowl combine marshmallow mixture and rice cereal. While warm roll mixture into several balls with buttered hands, shape each into a heart shape, insert popsicle stick at bottom and press on candy hearts. Refrigerate. Optional: Dip one corner of each pop into melted white chocolate chips, place on wax paper until set. Wrap each pop in red cellophane or fold top <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >sandwich baggies and tie with a pink ribbon to hand out as treats.

Kids love to create things, so it’s no wonder they love to cook. If your children, or grandchildren, show an interest in helping you cook, these easy <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/fun-easy-recipes-for-kids-breakfast/"title="" >kids breakfast ideas may be a good place for them to start.

Don’t forget to make it fun, for them and for you! Try renaming your food with a funny and silly name! Or try renaming the food using your child’s name. For example, rename the cheddar eggs, Billy’s Famous Eggs. Your children will really get a kick out of that.

Also, remember to add extra time in the kitchen so you aren’t rushing around. That won’t be fun for anybody.

1: Cheddar Eggs
(My kids really love this one!)

Spray a small microwavable cup or bowl with cooking spray.
Add one egg and 1 TBS water.
Beat lightly with a fork.
Stir in 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
(you can also use whatever cheese you have on hand)
Microwave on high for 1 minute.
Remove and break up the egg.
Return to microwave for an additional 30 seconds.
Spoon it onto a roll, toast or wrap it in a taco.
(Makes one serving)

2: Banana And Friends
(They like to make this when they have friends sleep over)

Peel and slice one banana.
Place in the bottom of a bowl.
Top it with any flavor yogurt.
Add any kind of cut up fruit on top of the yogurt.
Sprinkle any kids of cereal on top of the fruit
(Makes one serving)

3: Peanut Butter and Jelly Waffle <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >Sandwich
(My husband likes this one!)

Toast two waffles as directed.
Spread one waffle with peanut butter.
Add a few banana slices onto the waffle that has the peanut butter.
Spread jelly onto the other waffle.
Close to make a sandwich
(makes one serving)

Once your child has made them with you a few times, let them do it themselves…or at least most of it.

Here’s a <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/fun-easy-recipes-for-kids-breakfast/"title="" >fun breakfast recipes for kids cookbook.
There are plenty of ways to try <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com"title="" >fun easy recipes for kids without their parents worrying about getting hurt in the kitchen. One recipe that I started using with my little sister was a simple tuna salad recipe. This idea requires no stove usage or knives!

All you need is a can opener, a spoon, and a toaster (and even that’s optional). Start by opening a can of chunk light tuna, drained of all water, and place the tuna into a bowl. Break it up into smaller chunks with a fork. Next, add a tablespoon (or a little more, if you’re a fan) of mayonnaise or salad dressing and mix it in with the tuna.

For flavor, we like to add a dash of yellow mustard, a couple shakes of garlic salt, and a couple shakes of paprika. This is where your child can experiment with different flavors until they find their favorite. Try celery salt instead of garlic salt, parsley, black pepper, or whatever else is in your spice rack! Mix this all together evenly.

You can toast bread for the <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >sandwich afterward, and add your favorite kind of cheese – we prefer shredded mozzarella and cheddar. If your kid is adventurous, try some crumbled feta with just a little bit of lemon juice. Have them spread the tuna salad mixture onto the bread, add the cheese, and lunch is served!

Showing a child how to make tuna salad, is a great way to introduce them to cooking independently. If you trust them with the stove, you can always hard-boil an egg and add that to the tuna salad as well.

Are your kids asking to learn to cook? Good for them! Being able to prepare ones meals is a great way for kids to gain some independence. Here’s a few recipes for kids to make by themselves. Do it along side them a couple of times until they can manage on their own.

The first one is scrambled eggs. To start, you will need an oven, flat pan, a bowl, a spatula, a fork, a slice of butter, two eggs, a half cup of milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper. First crack two eggs into the bowl. Next, add the salt and pepper and milk into the bowl and mix with a fork until the mixture turns into a yellow liquid. Next, heat up the pan on the oven to the middle-high setting. After a couple minutes of heating, put the slice of butter in the pan and spread it around with the spatula. After you do that, pour the egg mixture into the pan. Begin to move the spatula around the pan until the mixture becomes solid. You can add ketchup for flavor. Serves two average kids or one really hungry one.

The next one is a very simple recipe that has been made for many years; The grilled cheese. All you need is an oven, a pan, two pieces, and a piece of cheese. first, heat the pan to medium. Then make a <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >sandwich out of the cheese and the slices of bread and put it on the pan. Keep checking to see whether the bread has turned a different color. When it does, flip it over. Continue to do this until the cheese has melted. Serves one kid and a smile.

Last but not least, the Popsicle is one kids will like especially during the summer, but enjoyable all year. All you will need is a freezer, a small cup, a Popsicle stick, and the juice of any fruit of your choice (ex: orange, apple, cranberry, etc.). First put your chosen fruit juice into the cup and put the Popsicle stick into it so that one end of the stick is out of the cup. Then put it in the freezer until frozen. After it is done freezing, simply pull on the Popsicle stick so that the whole thing comes out and you have a Popsicle. Serves one kid.

Take a look at our easy <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/valentine-recipes/"title="" >Valentine recipes!

Waffle <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >Sandwich

1/4 cup low fat salad dressing
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
4 thin slices cheddar, Colby, Swiss or mozzarella cheese
4 slices (about 1/4 pound) deli turkey, ham or roast beef
8 toasted waffles

Combine salad dressing, mustard and honey in a small bowl. Spread dressing on one side of each slice of bread. Divide meat and cheese and place on dressing side of bread to make 4 <a href="http://funeasyrecipesforkids.com/379-sandwich-ideas/"title="" >sandwiches. Place 1 sandwich in the middle of heated waffle iron. Bake for 2 to 3 minutes or until sandwich is golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat with other sandwiches.

Cut your waffle sandwich into strips for easy dipping in ketchup or sauce. Try different combinations of meat, cheese, sauces and bread. It’s a great way to use left-overs!

Tuna Twist
1 (6-ounce) can water-packed light tuna
1/2 cup diced apple
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup light or fat-free salad dressing
1/3 cup diced celery
1/4 cup chopped pecans
4 lettuce leaves
4 taco-size (8 1/2-inch) whole wheat tortillas

Drain water from canned tuna and place in mixing bowl. Combine apple and lemon juice in small bowl. Add salad dressing, celery, pecans and apples to tuna and combine. Place lettuce leaf on each tortilla, spread with 1/4 of the tuna mixture and roll up. Slice into 3 pieces if desired. Wrap and keep in refrigerator until serving time.

Put the can of tuna in the refrigerator the night before making the sandwiches so ingredients are cold. The lemon juice keeps the diced apple from turning brown and adds a nice tart flavor. To save time, dice the celery, chop the nuts and wash the lettuce the night before.

Tropical Fruit Dip

2 cups fat-free sour cream
1 cup fruit-flavored yogurt
4 tablespoons (about 1/2 of 3.5 ounce package) vanilla instant pudding

Combine sour cream, yogurt and dry pudding in medium mixing bowl.
Mix well and chill.

Serve this dip with a variety of fresh or canned fruit. Kids can use a thin pretzel stick to “spear” their favorite fruit before dipping! Pretzels are much safer than toothpicks, which could cause choking in younger children.Fruit dip might encourage children to try a variety of available
fruit – some seasonal, some unusual, some favorites. Fruit is packed
with good-for-you nutrients and fiber, so it’s important to eat two to four servings every day. Try slices of kiwi, grapes cut in half and whole strawberries for variety and color. To keep bananas and apples from turning brown after cutting, try dipping cut pieces in pineapple or orange juice before serving. If your favorite fresh fruit is not in season, buy canned fruit, which is less expensive. Enjoy fruit and dip as a snack or dessert often. By varying flavors of ingredients, you’ll discover new favorites.
